Affiliate disclosure
Quiet Japan participates in affiliate programs including (but not limited to) Booking.com, Agoda, Rakuten Travel, Klook, and Amazon Associates. When you click an outgoing link on this site and make a booking or purchase, we may receive a small commission at no additional cost to you. This is how we cover hosting and editorial costs. Affiliate status never affects whether or how we recommend a place — if we wouldn't stay there ourselves, it isn't on the site.
Travel information
Travel in Japan is generally safe and well-organized, but conditions change. Train lines close for maintenance, ferries cancel for weather, ryokan close for renovations, and rural restaurants often take irregular holidays. Verify everything directly before you travel. We are not a booking agent and cannot be held responsible for trips that do not match what was described at the time of publication.
Natural disasters and recovery regions
Some destinations on this site — notably the Noto Peninsula in Ishikawa Prefecture — are recovering from the 2024 earthquake. Road access, business hours, and individual ryokan availability continue to change. Where we cover such regions, we try to note known closures, but your best source is the official prefecture and city tourism pages in the days before you travel.
Health and safety
Onsen bathing, hiking, cycling, and ferry rides all carry ordinary travel risks. Pregnant travelers, travelers with cardiovascular conditions, and travelers with fresh tattoos should research onsen etiquette and restrictions before visiting. Nothing on this site is medical or legal advice.

We link to external sites, maps, and operator pages. We have no control over their content and accept no responsibility for it.
